A1 crash update:Nottinghamshire Police released further details about crash causing severe delays




Further details have been released by police about a crash causing severe delays for north and southbound traffic on the A1 near Newark.

Police dealing with the incident, involving a van and a lorry trailer, have closed one lane northbound and one lane southbound while debris is cleared

According to initial reports, the van has gone through the central reservation on the A1 northbound between the Coddington turn-off and the A46 junction.

Sergeant Jordan Robson, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “Emergency services were called to the A1 northbound, between Newark and Winthorpe, at around 1.50pm today (29 September 2022) following reports a lorry was in collision with the central reservation.

“No injuries have currently been reported but officers are at the scene helping to deal with debris left on the carriageway.

“One lane is currently blocked northbound and one lane is also blocked southbound following the incident.”

Traffic is backing up northbound as far as Fernwood and around 50 minutes of delays are being reported.

Congestion is also building up on roads surrounding the A46 junction at Newark.
