YMCA Nursery pre-school children take part in graduation ceremony at the YMCA Community and Activity Village, on Lord Hawke Way in Newark.
Pre-school children have celebrated completing nursery with an adorable graduation ceremony.
Last week, the YMCA Community and Activity Village in Newark welcomed 17 children and their families to a special YMCA Nursery event to celebrate a memorable milestone in their young lives.
The ceremony marked the end of the children’s pre-school journey and the beginning of their next steps when they enter primary school in September.
Each child received a graduation certificate to mark their achievements and growth at the nursery.
Steffen Benbow, executive director at YMCA Newark and Sherwood said he was pleased to present the certificates and greeted each graduate as they walked down the red carpet.
The children were able to express their individuality by choosing the colour of their graduation outfits, which matched the celebration’s rainbow theme.
After the presentation, everyone enjoyed party food and refreshments, as well as mingling with friends and family.
Catherine Shotton, assistant operations manager – early years and childcare, said: “It has been truly wonderful to see these children grow in confidence and develop their unique personalities during their time with us at the YMCA Nursery.
“We are incredibly proud of each one of them and excited to hear about their next big adventure, though it's always bittersweet to say goodbye.”
When asked about their time at the YMCA Nursery, the graduates shared their favourite activities.
Four-year-old George said: “I think the best thing about my nursery is drawing and playing with my friends. I really love it here.”
The YMCA Nursery currently has places available for pre-school children starting in September.
The organisation says their nursery offering provides a well-rounded early education experience, focusing on key elements such as early literacy, numeracy, emotional development, and social skills.
Being based at the YMCA Village also means the children attending nursery have access to other enrichment opportunities with a number of other on-site facilities.
