Christ Church, Church of England Primary School, on Flaxley Lane, Middlebeck, receives donation for books from housebuilder Miller Homes’ Community Fund

A school has been able to buy dozens of new books thanks to a donation from a regional business.

Christ Church, Church of England Primary School have expanded their school’s library with around 40 new titles after receiving some extra money from housebuilder Miller Homes.

The firm, which is currently working on the Middlebeck development, set up their Community Fund initiative to support organisations and causes in the area.

The school moved to a new building in Flaxley Lane, Middlebeck, in September 2021, when it expanded into a full primary school and replaced the former Christ Church Infant School on Victoria Street.

Now that the shelves have been restocked, the new books cater to the interest of pupils of all ages across the school.

School head, Lee Harrison, said: “The library is an important part of our school and it’s wonderful to line the shelves with some new additions to the book selection.

“The new books include a selection of fiction and non-fiction which are suitable for different age ranges across the school.

“We’ve got new informative non-fiction books about topics such as rocks and fungi, the Romans, and politics, as well as poetry books and age-appropriate fiction for the different year groups.

“The children have been enjoying reading the new books and we’d like to thank Miller Homes for its generous donation.”
