Nottinghamshire site manager steps in the ring to raise money for cancer research
A site manager has taken part in a charity boxing event to raise money for Cancer Research UK.
Site Manager Dane McMurtry — who currently oversees David Wilson Homes’ Fernwood Village development — took part in the charity fight at the Leicester Tigers Stadium in Leicester, cheered on by around 600 spectators.
Weighing-in at 81kg, 38-year-old Dane was been able to raise over £1,700 in sponsorships for his chosen charity after he won the middle-weight fight in the third round with a knockout.
Dane said: “Cancer research UK is a charity I have always supported due to having relatives who have passed away from cancer.
“I jumped at the chance to raise additional money for the organisation.”
Dane was inspired to take part after his brother-in-law competed in the same event last year.

John Reddington, managing director at David Wilson Homes East Midlands, said: “We are very proud of Dane for his great efforts in the fight and for raising a large amount of money for such an important charity.
“Having recently won a nationally recognised award for his excellent management of our Fernwood Village development in Nottinghamshire, 2022 has certainly been a great year for Dane.”
