Currys colleagues bake cakes to raise over £700 for Macmillan Cancer Support coffee morning
Colleagues from Currys served up a fantastic feast of cakes, biscuits and other baked goods in support of Macmillan coffee morning.
The Currys Campus on Long Hollow Way between Coddington and Newark participated in the national fundraising event over two days on September 29 and 30 to raise funds for Macmillan Cancer Support.
Overall, the team raised £765 for the charity through cake sales, as well as organising a Colin the Caterpillar hunt so participants could stretch their legs looking for cake and a Name the Sweet game.
Repair support co-ordinator, Tanya Dalby, organised the event and said: “Three years ago my mum sadly passed away from cancer.
"It made me realise just how devastating this horrible disease is, not just for the person who has cancer, but also for their family members who have to witness their loved one suffering.
“My personal experience is why I wanted to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support, because of the amazing work they do to support those living with cancer.
"Without donations, they would not be able to continue with the much-needed care they provide.”
This event marks the beginning of a busy period of fundraising at Currys Newark, as autumn event planning is in the works to mark the Wear it Pink campaign for breast cancer awareness and Children in Need.
