CCTV to cover honesty box in South Muskham after thefts
A village honesty box has reopened after it was targeted by thieves.
The box, located on the wall opposite the village hall car park in South Muskham, sells locally produced eggs and honey.
At the start of April two men in a van came at night, usually between the hours of 1am and 4pm, and stole everything from the box on several occasions, leading to the box being removed for a few weeks.
It is believe that these men were also responsible for thefts from the box towards the end of last year and even damaged it at one point while trying to break a padlock.
Reluctant to remove the contents of the box overnight, CCTV will now be used overnight to act as a deterrent or help to identify the culprits.
Steady As They Go, who run the box, thanked the community for the understanding, honesty and support it has received in a message posted to their Facebook page.
