Newark set to host Armed Forces Day again
Armed Forces Day takes place in Newark on Sunday.
The event starts at 11am with activities and stalls, with the annual march and parade due to take place at 11.30am.
Alongside the main event there will also be a craft and artisan market taking place throughout the day accompanied by music and entertainment, food concessions, displays of military equipment, and fire and police assets.
The live music performances come from Rock Choir and big-band vocalist Jayne Darling.
Stalls feature Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue — along with their fire tenders — and military associations, exhibits of the Notts and Derby Living History Association, face-painting, street food and a bar.
Markets manager for the town council Ian Harrison said: “This event is always warmly welcomed by Newark and its people as it gives us all an opportunity to say thank you and celebrate the commitment and service of past and present members of the Armed Forces.
“This year we also have an artisan market running alongside the event, which hopefully will be an added reason for people to attend.”
Representatives of military associations attending the event include Royal British Legion, Royal Air Forces Association, Newark 1260 Squadron Air Cadets, Army cadets, Sea cadets and the RHR Corps of Drums.
All are welcome to attend this year.
Last year’s event went ahead but had to be socially-distanced.
