Newark and Sherwood District Council install bins and clear waste as part of Boughton Day of Action despite thunderstorms
A team from Newark and Sherwood District Council were hard at work in Boughton yesterday despite the heavy rain.
The council team were working as part of the Boughton Day of Action, which had the aim of making the village a cleaner, safer and greener space.
As part of the efforts, the team was able to install:
- Six new litter bins
- Five new dog bins
- Clear 9.94 tonnes of waste from gardens
- Attended to 11 assisted gardens, with grass cutting, hedge and shrubbery cutting etc.
- Removed 7 tonnes of detritus from service roads around an estate
- Refreshed shrub beds with 25 tonnes of our recycled wood chipping — this is recycled from tree and hedge cuttings from around the district.
Unfortunately due to thunderstorms yesterday morning, other activities included within the Boughton Day of Action were cancelled and have had to be rescheduled.
These rescheduled activities include the painting of a community graffiti project and a community litter pick.
Also rescheduled was the information hub, which was due to host various stalls set up for residents to chat about topics such as health advice, community safety, cost of living, responsible dog ownership and alcohol targeted support.
The district council is looking into running these activities again at a later date.
