In March, the 1st Flintham Cubs section welcomed the Flintham Froggers Crochet Group to show them how to make pom poms using wool and toilet roll tubes.

The pom poms created by the cubs will be sewn onto the crocheted, and will then be sent to Ukraine.

Team leader, Becky Lambert, said: “The Cubs really enjoyed choosing the wool that they wanted to make their pom poms from, and choosing a hat to either match or contrast in colour.

“They were thrilled to know that they are helping keep Ukrainians warm, and would also like to learn how to crochet next.”

The mother of one cub even shared that her son now wanted to join the crochet group because “they meet at the pub and this is perfect place.”

The crocheted items are taken to the Ukranian Hub at Nottingham City Hospital, sorted by a team of volunteers and transported by lorry to Ukraine.
