Nottinghamshire Police in Rushcliffe arrest drink driver in Cotgrave as part of 'fatal four' week of action
Police have cracked down on drink driving and speeding in targeted operations as part of a week of action.
Nottinghamshire Police have conducted a week of action in the Rushcliffe area targeting the most common causes of road accidents, otherwise known as the 'fatal four' — speeding, using a mobile phone whilst driving, not wearing a seatbelt and drink driving.
A woman suspected to be driving whilst under the influence of alcohol was stopped and arrested by police in Cotgrave after they received information from members of the public.
The woman was seen driving erratically, swerving across lanes and did not have her lights on whilst driving during the dark rush hour period.
A roadside breath test revealed she was almost three times over the drink driving limit and she was subsequently arrested.
Elsewhere in Cotgrave and Tollerton, neighbourhood policing teams were carrying out speed operations following a number of complaints regarding speeding motorists.
Officers spoke to a number of motorists and issued a number of Traffic Offence Reports.
Motorists are advised to continue to watch their speed and driving manner as these operations continue across the region.
Police say the fatal four can easily be avoided by staying within the speed limit, not using a mobile phone while driving, always wearing a seat belt and never driving when planning to drink alcohol.
