Nottinghamshire County Council’s Holiday Activities and Food programme sessions take place at Hawtonville Young People Centre on Windsor Road, Newark, funded by department for education
Children in Newark have been enjoying free activities and meals during the school Easter break.
The Holiday Activities and Food (HAF) programme is run by Nottinghamshire County Council funded by the department for education.
It caters to children and young people aged five to 16 who are eligible for benefits-related free school meals, as a way of ensuring that every eligible child has access to experiences that benefit their well-being when away from school.
Across four days, at the Hawtonville Young People Centre, on Windsor Road, participants took part in range of activities, including cricket and archery, dance, arts and crafts.
There were also cookery and baking activities, and those who took part in any of the sessions received a nutritious meal.
Nottinghamshire County Council works in partnership with local providers, schools, and community organisations, to deliver the sessions.
The sessions are offered in communities across Nottinghamshire, and similar activities will return during the summer, autumn half term, and Christmas school holidays.
Eligible families are encouraged to take advantage of the programme, and details about upcoming sessions, including dates, locations and activities, can be found on Nottinghamshire County Council’s website.
