Festive fun ready to return to town centre with charity Santa Dash
The Newark Santa Dash is ready to return once again, bringing a little bit of early Christmas joy to the town centre.
The charity event will take place on Saturday, December 7, at 12 noon, and Athletic Santas will follow a short 1km course around the town centre, starting outside of Newark Parish Church on Church Walk, and ending in the Market Place.
Following the success of last year’s event, when over £1,000 was raised by over 70 runner, organisers hope that even more festive fun runners will be able to take part this year.
The event is organised by the Children’s Bereavement Centre, a beloved Newark-based charity that supports children, young people and their families that have been bereaved or someone they love has been diagnosed with a terminal illness.
The dash is fully inclusive and all are welcome to join in, whether running with a baby buggy, using a wheelchair, or even bringing along a four-legged friend.
Organisers say that it isn’t a race, and is all about having fun. Participants can walk, run or even saunter, but festive dress and santa hats are encouraged to get everyone into the Christmas spirit.
There are some great festive prizes to be won, from a candy cane to a gift voucher and those taking part will be entered into a free raffle using their Santa Dash numbers to be in with a chance of winning a special grand prize. There will also be the chance to find a golden ticket in the present grab.

Entry is £10 for adults, £2.50 for children and £20 for a family (includes 2 adults and up to 3 children).
Parking in all Newark and Sherwood District Council car parks will also be free on the weekend.
Newark College students and Radio Newark are also supporting the event.
