Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service tackles major blazes in Elkesley and Bilsthorpe in 24 hours




The fire service are currently in attendance at a blaze less than 24 hours after responding to another large fire.

Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service currently have eight appliances in attendance at a fire on Kirklington Road, Bilsthorpe, and are warning the public to avoid the area.

More updates will follow as they are known.

The Bilsthorpe blaze comes after around 80 firefighters responded to a significant fire at a recycling facility on Jockey Lane, Elkesley, at around 8pm yesterday evening.

Crews worked through the night to battle the fire which involved approximately 10,000 tonnes of timber, scrap metal and machinery.

Eight fire engines, two water carriers, an aerial ladder platform, command unit and welfare unit responded to the incident, including crews from Edwinstowe, Tuxford and Blidworth Fire Stations.

No injuries were reported and the incident was scaled down overnight, with a handful of engines remaining on scene this morning to continue dampening down the site.
