Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue release informative videos about staying fire safe as the cost of living rises
As the cost of living continues to rise and the temperatures drop as we enter the winter months, people will be seeking alternative ways to keep warm which could bring potential fire risks.
Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue have warned about the rise in the cost of living having an impact on fire risk in the home, potentially making fires more likely to occur as people take greater risks to keep warm.
The fire service's prevention team have produced a series of informative videos on different topics, including using electric blankets safely and the danger of single room living to the importance of carbon monoxide alarms and the dangers of bypassing gas meters.
The videos will be released throughout the month of October on Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue's social media channels.
In the first clip to be released, Crew Manager Tuckwood speaks about the risks of a shrinking indoor environment — whereby residents may attempt to live in a single room to avoid heating an entire house.
The move comes as part of the National Fire Chiefs Council’s cost of living campaign.
If you or someone you know is unable to assess fire risks within the home, the fire service provide free fire safety visits to the homes of vulnerable people.
