Children’s Bereavement Centre to host a charity firewalking fundraiser at Fernwood Village Hall on Saturday, October 26

A charity challenge will be heating up a cold autumn evening as fundraisers take part in a fire walk

On Saturday, October 26, the Children’s Bereavement Centre are hosting a firewalking event, allowing people to challenge themselves and raise funds for a good cause at the same time.

With guidance and in a safe environment, participants will be encouraged to face their fears and walk 15ft over glowing and smouldering hot coals.

The event will take place from 5pm at Fernwood Village Hall, with the firewalking due to start at 7pm.

A bar will be open for refreshments and a BBQ will be served, with live music, games and activities inside the hall for family and friends to enjoy free of charge.

Claire Spindley, fundraising and events assistant at the Children’s Bereavement Centre, said: “This event will be a fantastic fun evening for everyone to come along to and enjoy.

“The Firewalk will be a great opportunity for people to step out of their comfort zone, try something new and push themselves both mentally and physically all while raising funds for a local charity helping local children.

“It’s an unusual event and not something that people get the chance to take part in very often so we hope lots of people grab this opportunity to take part in this unique experience, push their boundaries and make a difference.”

The charity previously hosted a firewalk in 2019, and are looking for brave people to put themselves forward to take part later this month.

To take part, go to the Children’s Bereavement Centre website and complete a sign up form.

It costs just £30 to register and secure a place, with a discounted price of £100 for a group 4. Participants will also have the opportunity to set up a fundraiser with a target of £50.
