Newark Golf Club seniors raise over £700 for youth charity




A golf club has hosted a fundraiser for a charity supporting vulnerable young people.

Howard Roberts, captain of Newark Golf Club, invited his charity of the year the Newark Emmaus Trust to host the refreshment stop at the ninth hole on a golfing Seniors' Day.

The trust was represented by finance manager Jackie Duers and assistant Joanne Britten who organised supplies, as well as served drinks and snacks. The refreshment station was stocked with supplies provided by companies in the area including Aldi, Bakkavor, Co-op, Marks and Spencer, Sainsbury’s, Starbucks and pub the Tawny Owl.

The trust’s residents did their bit too by baking cakes.

Jackie and Jo did a raffle and the total was just over £700.

Charity chief executive Nicola Burley said: “We are very grateful to Howard at the club and thank you to the members for supporting us by purchasing refreshments and raffle tickets.”
