Reader’s Letters: Make more of the market

It has been lovely to see the beach back in Newark Market Place over the last couple of weeks.

Whoever thought of that idea deserves a raise.

It is wonderful to see families coming into the town centre and having such a good time.

Hopefully, it will return next year — only for longer.

There seems to have been a real effort over the last couple of years to make better use of Newark’s Market Place to bring people into the town — and that should be applauded.

We have a fantastic space in the middle of town that should be its centrepiece.

However, there seems to be few places for people to actually sit and enjoy the various attractions, except at the cafes.

Why can’t a public seating area be created — there is plenty of room — for those of us who want to simply sit and watch the world go by and enjoy the wonderful attractions now being provided by the council?
