Mayor of Newark receives letter of thanks from King Charles III
The Mayor of Newark, Laurence Goff has received a message of thanks from the King.
Mr Goff received the card, which featured a personal message and a photo of a young King Charles alongside his mother, the late Queen Elizabeth II.
The card reads: "It was so very kind of you to send me such a wonderfully generous message following the death of my beloved mother.
"Your most thoughtful words are enormously comforting, and I cannot tell you how deeply they are appreciated at this time of immense sorrow."
The letter is signed Charles R by the King.
On receiving the message from the King, Laurence Goff said: "I am so grateful and honoured on behalf of the town as Mayor, to receive this message from King Charles III regarding the loss of Queen Elizabeth II, his mother."
The card is now on display in the Mayor's Parlour at Newark Town Hall.
