Readers’ Letters: Need to hide ‘toilet block’
Published: 12:43, 13 December 2024
So, as usual, Newark and Sherwood Council take the decision that the 16 mature trees in the castle grounds are in the way of the so-called Gatehouse Project, for which they have received a nice big heritage lottery grant.
There’s not much heritage about chopping healthy mature trees down, which also went against the advice of their own tree inspector.
Apparently, the said trees block the access for the new all-singing and dancing gatehouse that looks like an office block, or as some one else commented toilet block — which we probably have more of a need for!
So, the more camouflage in front of said wonder building the better.
Sad times indeed. — S. FRYER, via email.
