New Commanding Officer appointed at 1260 Newark and District Air Cadets Squadron
An experienced Sergeant has been appointed the new Commanding Officer (C.O.) of an Air Cadet squadron.
1260 Newark and District Air Cadets Squadron have a new C.O. after Sergeant Neil Mason was appointed as the senior uniformed officer.
Sergeant Mason joined the Air Cadet organisation in 1989 and was originally with 384 Mansfield Squadron until 2001 when he moved to 1260 Newark and District Squadron, taking up the post of Sergeant in 2018.
On taking up his role, Sergeant Mason said “I have a clear plan for what we will achieve and our goals for 2023.
"The basics of this are to give each air cadet the opportunity to fulfil the experience on offer from Royal Air Force Air Cadets, especially flying from RAF Cranwell, to be more involved within our local community and to be more competitive at Trent Wing events including sport, shooting and road marching”.
“I also wish to see the number of young people from the wide ranging activities and opportunities offered increasing and, personally, I will be seeking to gain a commission in the Air Cadets”.
Newark and District Air Cadets will be holding an open evening on April 20 for anyone interested in joining the organisation aged from 12 to 17 and in year 8 or above at school,
The open evening will take place at the Cadet Centre on Sherwood Avenue, Newark on April 20 at 7.30pm.
