New hair salon in Brant Broughton opened by stylist who worked in Aveda salons in Newark, Southwell and Long Bennington
A new hair salon is promising customers a relaxing and rejuvenating bespoke experience.
Jade Dawn is stylist with over a decade of experience and the owner of newly opened The Olive Tree hair salon in Brant Broughton.
Having worked in salons in Newark, Thurgarton near Southwell and Long Bennington, now was the time for Jade to step out on her own and make her mark.
She said: “I’ve opened up a hair salon, but I don’t want it to be any run of the mill salon.
“I want it to be a place that clients can sit back and relax and enjoy a bespoke hair consultation and styling experience.
“I was a Saturday girl when I was 14, but my passion for hair made me want to pursue a career and I took on an apprenticeship when I was 16.
“Now I’ve been doing it for 12 years and that passion for hair is stronger than ever.
“I wanted to open my own place and now I can have everything just the way I want it, I have control over everything and how nice an environment it is for anyone that comes through the door.
“The reason why I named it The Olive Tree is because Olive trees symbolise peace, harmony and sophistication and that is exactly how I want every client to feel when they walk out.”
Now open for just over a week, the business is already a popular spot as many of Jade’s clients throughout the years have remained loyal and followed her wherever she’s gone.
“Business has been really good,” said Jade.
“The village is so beautiful and it’s been so nice that all my clients have continued to support me.
“Some of them I’ve been doing since I was 16. It’s lovely, it makes me feel very honoured and grateful.”
Jade’s commitment to a relaxing and natural experience extends to the products she uses too.
All of the salons where she previously worked used Aveda, a cruelty-free, vegan brand, which is derived from natural ingredients — so she chose to continue her relationship with the brand at the new salon.
“They don’t use harsh chemicals which could harm the health of your hair, they’re manufacturing is wind and solar powered and they use 100% PET bottles, so they really care about every aspect,” said Jade.
“I’m very passionate about this and I wanted to take those ideals and make the salon a haven of tranquility, with an organic atmosphere, that reflects my ethos of natural, beautiful hair.”
The Olive Tree offers all of the classic hair services, from washing, cutting and styling, to colouring too.
Speaking on Jade’s success, her grandma Gill Dawn, said: “I really am proud,
“The past year has been really difficult, but she’s worked hard all her life to achieve this.
“I just know she will do really really well and I couldn’t be more proud of her.”
