Reader’s letter: Not such an independent

Last week I received a circular from Councillor Irene Brown, an Independent councillor for Newark and former Town Mayor, asking me to vote for Robert Jenrick.

So much for Independence! She should have kept her views to herself.

I have always thought a lot of Independent councillors are closet Tories and in her case she should stand as a Conservative.

There was a lot more on why we should endorse Robert Jenrick and while he might well be a good guy, he is a member of an administration that wasn’t doing well and he his a very keen supporter of a known liar ie Boris Johnson. — COLIN TALL, via email
