Nottinghamshire actor, Mathew Horne, of Burton Joyce, set to return in final episode of Gavin & Stacy on BBC One on Christmas Day

The hit BBC sitcom Gavin & Stacy is set to conclude tonight with its final ever episode.

'Gavin & Stacey: The Finale' will air on BBC One, tonight (Christmas Day) at 9pm and is expected to attract millions of viewers.

It has been five years since the beloved characters last appeared on our television sets, when the 2019 Christmas Special ended on a cliffhanger.

Now, show writers Ruth Jones and James Corden have said the final episode will tie up loose ends and answer the questions that everyone has on their lips.

The show is also set to see the return of Mathew Horne in the title role of Gavin.

Despite his character being from Essex, the actor is Nottinghamshire born. He grew up in Burton Joyce and attended The Minster School, Southwell.

More recently he also appeared in the comedy drama 'Newark, Newark', set in the namesake town.
