Ollerton Street receives community garden funds through District Council scheme

Residents of De Lacy Court, Ollerton recently got their green fingers dirty after being awarded funding for the creation of a community garden.

Thanks to Newark and Sherwood District Council's Community Chest scheme — which is aimed at encouraging projects to make social housing areas cleaner, safer and greener — the street was successful in securing a £1000 grant.

The money was put towards the improvement of a green space through the purchase of a new tool store, greenhouse and various plants.

Tenants banded together and worked hard to transform the space, adding beautiful flower borders and a vegetable patch. Newark and Sherwood District Council officers were also in attendance to help out.
