Nottinghamshire Police conduct speed checks in Balderton as part of neighbourhood policing week of action

Police have conducted speed checks in a village as part of a national week of action.

Yesterday evening officers from Newark Neighbourhood Policing Team conducted speed checks on Main Street, Balderton as part of the Neighbourhood Policing National Week Of Action.

Police thanked the public as several people took the time to speak with officers and noted their appreciation for the policing presence in the Balderton area recently.

This morning officers in the Sherwood also carried out speed checks in Kirton, Ollerton and Clipstone as part of the week of action.

Several warnings and tickets were issued.

Residents were also asked to get in touch if speeding is an issue where they live.

The national Neighbourhood Policing Week of Action aims to highlight the work that neighbourhood officers, police community support officers and volunteers do in protecting the public and keep communities safe.

A number of events will take place throughout the week across Nottinghamshire, including high-visibility patrols at anti-social behaviour hotspots and targeting speeding motorists.

There will also be operations to target drug dealers, shoplifters and criminals targetting rural communities.

Prevention events will also be held, such as bike marking to keep thieves at bay and visiting local schools to talk about the work they do.
