Nottinghamshire Police Operation Epsom to combat illegal and anti-social use of off-road motorbikes in Newark
A new police operation is taking place to combat illegal and anti-social use of off-road motorcycles.
Operation Epsom by Nottinghamshire Police will use a mixture of education and enforcement to deal with illegal and anti-social use of off-road motorcycles around Newark and neighbouring areas .
Police say that the use of unregistered, un-taxed and uninsured motorcycles causes anti-social issues, puts other road users at risk and at times causes damage to private land.
The operation comes in response to resident feedback informing police of how these motorcycles cause nuisance due to the dangerous ways in which they are ridden.
Now the public are being asked to report incidents or offer information about the people using off-road motorcycles or where they are being kept by contacting newarknpt@notts.police.uk or by calling Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
If you’re riding a motorcycle on a road you must have/do the following:
- Have a valid MOT certificate if the vehicle is more than three years old.
- Register your motorcycle with the DVLA, making sure it is taxed and is displaying correct registration plates.
- Have a full car licence or a category B1 licence if it was issued before January 1997.
- Have a minimum of third-party insurance to ride your motorcycle on the road.
To ride off road, motorcycle owners will need written permission from the Landowners.
