A gun, stolen vehicles and tools worth £5,000 recovered by Nottinghamshire Police in Screveton, Rushcliffe
Four stolen vehicles and a shotgun have been recovered by police investigating thefts in a rural area.
Officers from the road crime team of Nottinghamshire Police visited an address in Flintham Lane, Screveton, in Rushcliffe, at around 1.40pm on Tuesday afternoon after a trailer, reported missing from Costock, was spotted in a field by a police drone.
Further searches by the police's tactical support group revealed three additional stolen vehicles in and around the area — two road rollers reported missing from Lincolnshire and a van taken from Yorkshire.
Officers also recovered a shotgun, ammunition, and power tools worth around £5,000.
The vehicles will be examined before being handed back to their owners as detectives continue their investigation.
Neighbourhood Policing Inspector Rob Lawton said: “Crime in our rural communities has a significant impact for those who live, work and visit these areas.
"We remain focussed on working closely with our communities and partners to identify offenders and reduce rural crime.
“This was an excellent example of officers from across the force coming together and showing determination which resulted in us uncovering far more than the stolen trailer they had set out to recover.”
