Well-maintained tyres are an essential feature of any vehicle, helping drivers to stay safe on the roads, particularly in wet or icy conditions.

Bald tyres are a danger as they can result in a loss of grip and increased stopping distances, with the potential to cause accidents.

Tyres without tread are also more likely to fail and experience a blowout which becomes especially dangerous when travelling at higher speeds.

Fines of up to £2,500 can be handed out per tyre.
