Advertiser reader’s letter: Pressure for health reforms
On March 8, the Reform UK Newark branch attended a Labour Party meeting focused on the ongoing issues surrounding the urgent care facility at Newark Hospital.
The Labour candidate leading the event displayed a thorough understanding of the hospital’s historical challenges.
However, the meeting took a political turn with the candidate's presentation, which prominently featured slogans like “A vote for Labour is a vote for Newark Hospital.”
Critics deem this approach an ineffective attempt to sway voters, especially considering the hospital’s troubles have persisted for 14 years without resolution.
Reform UK is fielding nine candidates in Newark and Sherwood in the upcoming county council elections, scheduled for May 1.
The party is optimistic that a victory in these elections will empower them to advocate for necessary changes at the hospital by applying pressure on the government to address long-standing concerns. — KEVIN THOMP-SON, Bingham west candidate Reform UK.
