New drone operator scholarship from Air League and Eagle Eye Innovations being offered at Beeches Farm Airstrip in Newark
Applications are now open for young people to become drone operators through a new scholarship.
Drone technology had expanded rapidly across the UK in recent years with drone specialists used for a variety of roles including the military and policing as well as at cultural events such as the Coronation earlier this month.
The scheme is a partnership between the Air League, which is the UK’s leading aviation and aerospace charity, and Eagle Eye Innovations.

Successful applicants who complete the scholarship will receive an A2 Certificate of Competency which allows an operator to fly drones close to people and in more challenging locations such as built-up areas.
The scholarship will open doors to various sectors like aerial photography, videography, surveying, inspection services, agriculture, and more.
Applications are now open and will close on June 11, with the course scheduled to take place on August 29 at Beeches Farm Airstrip in Newark and will include full board and accommodation.
The scholarship is open to all who would be interested in a career in the aviation sector who is 18 or over by August 18 and are a UK citizen and Air League Member.
