Reach Learning Disability charity appealing for sponsors to run virtual 2023 London Marathon

A charity that supports people with learning disabilities across Nottinghamshire is looking for people to take part in a virtual London Marathon.

Reach Learning Disability, which has bases in both Newark and Southwell, want five eager supporters to help them raise funds by running in the virtual 2023 London Marathon on April 23.

There is a £30 entry fee although this will be waived for anyone that raises more than £250 in sponsorships.

The money raised will help fund courses, social activities and holidays to enable adults with learning disabilities across the county live happier, healthier lives in the community.

He said: “I have been running for a long time, but had lost my mojo, so committing to the Newark Half Marathon really helped me get back into running longer distances.

"It was not easy, it was 34 degrees, but I raised over £800 for Reach.

"It is so rewarding to be able to help this worthwhile charity, and get fitter too”

Sarah Cobb, Reach fundraising officer, said: “We really appreciate the funds raised for us by supporters like Simon.

"It makes a real difference to the lives of our clients, and enables us to offer them activities that they would otherwise miss out on.

"We encourage anyone who is thinking of taking part in the Virtual London Marathon to ask their employers if they will match fund their fundraising, which means they only need a £125 in sponsorship.”
