Nottinghamshire Council Council road closures in Nottingham and West Bridgford for Take That concerts at Nottingham Forest’s The City Ground to affect travel this weekend

Residents, motorists and concert goers are being warned to expect some travel delays this weekend as a number of road closures, diversions and parking restrictions are put in place.

On Saturday, May 25, and Sunday, May 26, the pop group Take That will be performing sold out shows at Nottingham Forest’s City Ground.

Ahead of the events, Nottinghamshire County Council is advising motorists travelling through the area, who are not attending the concert, to allow extra time for their journeys as routes into and out of West Bridgford are likely to be busier than usual.

This will be the first time since 2005 that the City Ground has hosted a music concert and so extra measures will be in place to ensure the safety of the public.

The following restrictions will be in place:

Fox Road – Parking restrictions and a one-way closure from the Bridgford Road end will be in place from 9am on Friday, May 24 to 11:59pm on Sunday, May 26.

Hound Road – Parking restrictions and a one-way closure from the Bridgford Road end will be in place from 9am on Friday, May 24 to 11:59pm on Sunday, May 26.

Colwick Road – Parking restrictions and road closure (anticipated) will be in place from 4:59pm to 11pm on Saturday, May 25, and again from 4pm to 11pm on Sunday, May 26.

Pavilion Road – A road closure will be in place from 4pm to 11pm on Saturday, May 25, and again from 4pm to 11pm on Sunday, May 26. Parking restrictions will also be in place on Pavilion Road from one minute past midnight on Friday, May 24 to 11:59pm on Tuesday, May 28.

Trentside North – A road closure will be in place from one minute past midnight on Friday, May 24 to 11:59pm on Sunday, May 26. Parking restrictions will also be in place on Trentside North from one minute past midnight on Friday, May 24 to 11:59pm on Sunday, May 26.

Bridgford Road – Parking restrictions will be in place from 9am on Friday, May 24 to 11:59pm on Sunday, May 26.

A6011 Lady Bay Bridge – A road closure will be in place between the junction of Radcliffe Road, West Bridgford, and the junction of Meadow Lane between 10:30pm and 11pm on both Saturday, May 25 and Sunday, May 26.

The closure on Lady Bay Bridge will be in place on both nights between 10:30pm and 11pm to allow the safe travel of concert goers away from the City Ground and a diversion route for motorists will be in place via Radcliffe Road, Loughborough Road, Trent Bridge, A6011 Cattle Market Road and Meadow Lane.

Neil Clarke MBE, cabinet member for transport and environment, said: “An estimated 28,000 people will be travelling to the City Ground each night to see Take That and so extra safety measures will be in place to allow concert goers to travel to and from the ground safely.

“One of these measures will include a short-term closure of Lady Bay Bridge each night of the concert which will allow fans to exit the ground safely once the concert has ended.

“During this half an hour closure period we advise that motorists instead use the diversion route to complete their journeys.

“We know that these restrictions will have an impact on local residents, and we have been assured that Nottingham Forest Football Club has contacted residents who may be impacted.

“We advise that anyone travelling into or around the area on Saturday, May 25, and Sunday, May 26 leaves extra time to complete their journeys as we expect roads to be busy.”
