Newark artist Tony Goulding showcasing paintings at The Spotlight Gallery in Newark Town Hall, until February 15




A new exhibition showcasing spectacular views of Newark is now open.

The Spotlight Gallery in Newark Town Hall is displaying the art of landscape artist, Tony Goulding, until February 15.

The Newark-based painter works in mixed media and has created dozens of pieces highlighting the picturesque views that can be found around town.

Tony first began developing his love of painting during his career in the RAF, first producing detailed cartoons and caricatures, before specialising in aviation art.

Working mainly in acrylics, he uses brushes or a palette knife to add texture and detail.

Visitors to the exhibition will be able to marvel at the stunning depictions and scenes in recognisable locations such as Newark Market Place, the Palace Theatre, and Newark Castle.

A range of different styles have been used, including his eye catching monochrome palette series, which features pops of colour.

Tony also ventures further afield, capturing landmarks such as Southwell Minster, as well as football and cricket grounds in Nottingham.

He was previously the artist in residence at the former Arcade Framing Gallery in Newark, and is the now the current artist in residence at the Chess Master Café in Southwell.

His art has feature on popular cards and calendar, which can be bought in various businesses around Newark.

The Spotlight Gallery, based on the top floor of Newark Town Hall, is open from Wednesday to Friday, 10.30am to 1pm, and from 10.30am to 3.30pm on Saturdays.
