Project developers Urban & Civic confirm no opening date yet decided for next section of Newark Southern Link Road

An opening date for the next section of Newark Southern Link Road has still to be confirmed.

The third phase of the development — between Farndon and Hawton — is currently being carried out by Brehenny Engineering.

The middle stretch, connecting Bowbridge Lane to Hawton Road, Newark, is scheduled to open next.

However, no completion date has yet been given.

A representative for project developers Urban & Civic, said: “This section of new road is currently being constructed with completion expected towards the end of Spring.

“As such, there are currently no plans in place for opening and in due course this will be done in conjunction with the County Council’s Highways and District Council’s Planning teams.”

The last section of the road to open to the public was between the Welcome Break in Fernwood and Bowbridge Lane, in October of last year.

Once fully complete, the Southern Link Road will connect the A46 to the A1 south of Newark via a 5km stretch of new road.
