Newark Advertiser reader letters: Time to consider an alternative?
It’s very unusual political times in my personal view, and as a father of two, a local businessperson in the county, and living among Newark’s rural farms, I’ve found myself paying more attention than ever before.
I run my own business in the Newark area and, until the last few years, I’ve been able to make a fair living and employ a number of people.
But, after Tory and now Labour mismanagement and the chaos of the last budget I’m struggling with unreasonable taxation and finding it increasingly difficult to look after my workers.
It’s getting harder and harder, we have to work longer hours, and our business faces so many challenges.
I now realise Britain is staggering from the incompetence of two parties who, essentially, believe in the same things and use broken policies to achieve illogical aims. There's got to be an alternative to this ‘uniparty’ nonsense: there is — it's called Nigel Farage's Reform Party.
I intended to not vote in 2024, until I read the Reform Party Contract…or manifesto as its usually called..
Reform look like they will defend and develop Newark Hospital, welcome legal migrants but ‘importantly’ control those who come into the country wrongly, get a grip on crime and make sure that working people's hard earned taxes are spent responsibly.
I hope people remember this when we come to local elections in May. — L. J. Smith, via email.
