Newark Advertiser Reader Letters: Time to stop the madness

In his recent letter Tackle Source Of Climate Problem (News Views, May 17) M. Bassey quotes an article printed in the Guardian relating to a computer-derived projection of temperature rise as being the view of “hundreds of the world’s leading climate scientists” and that every contactable lead author or review editor of IPCC reports since 2018 had been contacted.

However, it also mentions that only 45% of them replied, but undeterred, the Guardian printed alarmist comments from an international finance expert, an associate professor of real estate, a mathematician, an economist, a South African scientist, who chose not to be named, and a senior scientist apparently studying at ocean acidification.

The latter would seem to be a waste of time and money, as the oceans are not, never have been, nor ever will be acidic.

The oceans are strongly alkali and there simply are not enough CO2 atoms in the atmosphere, to change 300 million cubic miles of the Earth’s sea water to acid.

M. Bassey continues to support the unproven hypothesis that carbon dioxide is causing the climate to change.

Many top scientists believe this to be untrue but they have been effectively silenced for fear of losing their careers and funding by the group think of the established climate lobby and media

Those that are brave to speak out however include the former Science Advisor to Barack Obama, a meteorologist who served on the IPCC, a physicist and science advisor who served three US presidents, a Nobel Prize physics winner, a former scientist for climate studies at NASA, and, believe it or not, the co-founder of Greenpeace, and many more.

If what they say is true, then surely it is time to stop the Net Zero madness and reap the benefits of the miracle gas carbon dioxide that will green our planet further and accelerate food production worldwide. — Colin Southgate, Coddington.
