Newark and Sherwood District Council officers served court papers to Travellers parked at Sconce and Devon Park, Newark




A group of travellers illegally camped on a Newark park have officially been served with court papers.

Last Thursday (March 20), a number of caravans parked up on green space at Sconce and Devon Park.

The unauthorised encampment consists of five vehicles and six caravans, close to the children’s play equipment near to the Farndon Road park entrance.

Newark and Sherwood District Council officers have visited the site and served court papers to the group while the council seeks an official court order requiring the group to vacate the area.

A council spokesperson, said: “We are currently in the legal process of obtaining a court order to remove the group from the site and [were] due in court this afternoon at 2pm.

“The group was served court papers yesterday (Monday, March 24).

“In the meantime, we will continue to monitor the park to ensure everyone on site is well looked after and safe.”
