Nottinghamshire Police Road Policing Unit seize van with unsafe tyres and no road tax
Police have seized a vehicle after it was deemed to be too unsafe to stay on the roads.
A team from Nottinghamshire Police's Road Policing Unit stopped a van yesterday as the road tax had not been paid since July 2022.
During the stop officers discovered that the rear nearside inner tyre was devoid of any tread and the nearside outside rear tyre was significantly deflated to the point that there was no inflation at all.
The van was prohibited from moving due to the tyre defects and a traffic offence report was issued to the driver.
The van was then seized for having no road tax. Tax and MOT status can be checked HERE.
Police are reminding drivers that tyres need to be checked regularly for any cuts, bulges, tread wear or under-inflation, as failure to do so can be unsafe to the vehicle driver and other road users..
