Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service extinguish barn fires in Southwell with Newark crews remaining on site
Two barns have been destroyed following a fire which began this afternoon.
Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service attended the scene on Greaves Lane near Southwell and have now extiguished the fire.
Fire crews from Carlton and Newark remain on scene to dampen down the area, and will be monitoring for the next few hours.
Several other crews attended the fire which broke out shortly before 5pm, including Worksop's water bowser, Mansfield's command support vehicle, and Stockhill's Environmental Protection Unit.
Residents are reminded to keep their windows and doors closed as some some smoke remains in the area.
Station manager Simon Glew, said: "Due to dry weather, please be aware that any outdoor fires you might have can get out of control very quickly.
"If you see a fire, call 999 immediately."
