Southwell Rugby Club appoints new head coach, Dan Storey, former Doncaster Knights player and scrum half for England U18s and 19s




A rugby club has welcomed its new head coach as the team prepares for pre-season training.

Dan Storey has been appointed as the new head coach at Southwell Rugby Club and comes with a wealth of experience.

Originally from Doncaster, Dan played scrum half for England U18s and 19s before joining Doncaster Knights on a professional contract.

He has been coaching on the club and school circuit for 17 years, most recently leading Mossborough to a league and cup double.

Southwell director of rugby, Jim Scott, said the club were thrilled to have got the appointment over the line: "Dan was the outstanding candidate, and he will bring energy and experience to the clubs rugby program."

Dan said: "Firstly l'd like to thank Jim and the committee for giving me this opportunity.

“I'm very excited to start a new chapter at a well-established club like Southwell.”

He added: "I know that last year's results were disappointing across the first and second teams, but hopefully with everyone's buy in we can start to change that.

“I am looking forward to seeing as many people playing as possible".

Dan will commence his role when pre-season starts on July 2.
