Southwell based Endeavour Taekwondo successful at Global Taekwondo International competition in Cheltenham, Gloustershire
A martial arts club is hoping to inspire more girls and women into their sport after a successful time at an international competition.
Southwell based Endeavour Taekwondo attended their final competition of the year at the Global Taekwondo International competition.
The club travelled down to Cheltenham in Gloucestershire where they took on the best that the country has to offer and came away with medals across multiple events.
Some of the competitors fought back to back sparring rounds but still came away with golds.
The club led by Sarah Harney — herself a 3rd degree black belt — brought back a range of medals in sparring and patterns work, fighting off some tough competition.
Sarah hopes to continue building a club which makes the sport more accessible to all and has a large cohort of female taekwondo practitioners who all train together, making sure that there is a strong next generation.
Kirsty Harrison, Lucy Martin, both 18-years-old and Erin Harney, 10, brought back multiple medals representing the woman and girls of the club with pride.
There was also success at the club’s grading in September, where 11-year-old Southwell Minster school-girl, Grace Crossley, came out with the "Best of Grade" achievement and moved one step closer to her Black belt.
The club which meets at Southwell Minster school on Fridays is now focusing on 2024 and the next challenge as they train for an International tournament in the Netherlands.
Anyone wanting to join the team are welcome to drop in for a taster session. The club can be contacted on 07716697174 or at endeavourtkd@outlook.com for more information.
