Arresting comedy

Newark’s regular comedy night returns to the Thanal Restaurant in St Mark’s Place on Thursday, February 10, at 9pm, with the monthly visit of the Magners Funhouse Comedy Club.

It will be headlined by Simon Bligh.

As a child Simon loved comedy and, after seeing a Richard Pryor film in an empty Manchester cinema, he realised his calling.

He hasn’t looked back since and, ten years on, has a Time Out Comedy Award and Perrier Award nomination under his belt and is in great demand.

His cheery, conversational manner and manic storytelling involve acute observations.

Support comes from Chris Stokes with intelligent, witty material.

Anyone booking a meal before the show is given free admission to the comedy night. Tickets for only the show can be bought at the door.

The comedy club returns to Newark with a charity event at Newark Working Men’s Club on March 4, at 8.30pm.

Compère Spiky Mike will be joined by comedians John Warburton and Alfie Moore (pictured) to raise money for research into diabetes.

Tickets are available from www.diabetes.org.uk, www.funhousecomedy.co.uk or by calling 0115 952 5050.
