64-house planning application for Southwell submitted to Newark and Sherwood District Council
Plans for more than 60 houses to be developed in a historic town have been submitted to Newark and Sherwood District Council.
The application, by Redrow Homes, is for 64 houses on land currently used as fields.
One residential property is planned to be demolished to create an access road to the site, off Lower Kirklington Road, Southwell.
The plans for the homes include market housing, social, affordable or intermediate rent housing, and affordable home ownership properties.
The development will consist of 45 market housing properties with two, three or four-plus bedrooms; five houses and six maisonettes under social, affordable or intermediate rent with one, two or three bedrooms; and eight properties for affordable home ownership with two or three bedrooms.
It will also include the creation of 167 carparking spaces.
The site borders the Southwell Trail wildlife corridor to the north, a residential street to the east and allotments to the west.
Two public rights of way pass through the application site, linking Lower Kirklington Road to the Southwell Trail. It is outside of the Southwell Conservation Area.
Redrow Homes have been creating homes for the future which are inspired by the past, according to planning documents. Its designs feature the arts and crafts movement.
