Colleagues are also being encouraged to take part in drop-in health check-up sessions held in the staff canteen by Bakkavor’s Occupational Health team, with support from Alison Hardman, Health Improvement officer at Newark and Sherwood District Council.

To promote healthier lifestyles, sessions are being offered by Active4Today Gym, alongside resources from GroceryAid and Aviva Digicare to help staff manage financial health and access medical advice.

Adding an element of fun to the wellbeing month, staff will have the chance to win one of two luxury pamper hampers in a prize draw.

Andrjez Szokalski, the general operations manager at Bakkavor Desserts Newark, said: “As a major employer in the area, we take looking after our people seriously and supporting the health and wellbeing of our colleagues is a key priority.

“Our month of activities for May are designed to engage people at all levels.

“We are running some simple, fun activities plus some more demanding excursions in the Peak District, but the crucial factor is everyone’s involved, everyone’s made to feel comfortable, and above it, we’re making it fun.”

Mr Szokalski added that the physical health check-in services are helping staff monitor key indicators such as weight, BMI, visceral fat, blood pressure and pulse, supported by expert advice on healthy living.
