Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue crews attend van fire on A46 bridge over A1 at Newark

Firefighters attended a van fire on the A46 this afternoon (Tuesday).

Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service received calls about a van fire on the bridge of the A46 over the A1 at 3.30pm today.

Crews from Newark and Tuxford were mobilised to the incident.

The fire crews have now left the scene and there are no reports of injuries.

The area around the scene has remained congested, with the AA reporting slow and heavy traffic on the A46 Southbound, the A17 Northbound and the A1 Southbound at the Winthorpe interchange.

Motorists are facing severe delays of 26 minutes and increasing.
