Nottinghamshire musicians given the opportunity to play Rock City and Splendour Festival main stages

Nottinghamshire musicians given the opportunity to play the iconic main stage of Rock City and Splendour Festival.

The entries to take part in the Future Sounds of Nottingham opened on May 19 at 11am, giving any live musicians, from or living within the Greater Nottingham Urban Area, who make original music the chance to play the stages.

Eight finalists will get the chance to play the Rock City main stage on July 6, where two champions will go on to open the main stages of Nottingham Splendour Festival on July 19 and 20, alongside Jake Bugg, Bloc Party and Clean Bandit.

Running for over ten years, the Future Sound of Nottingham is organised by music organisation Nusic, who are dedicated to helping talented Nottinghamshire musicians at the start of their career.

Despite having had to end most of their projects in 2022, due to support from Rock City and Splendour Festival, they are able to bring back this opportunity.

Future Sounds of Nottingham has been running for over 10 years and some of its previous finalists include ALT BLK ERA, Emily Makis and Bru-C’s.

To enter, email hello@nusic.org.uk with one song, in an mp3 or wav format, on a file sharing link through dropbox, Google Drive or other sharing systems, or one streaming link to their Spotify, Soundcloud or other streaming services.

In the email, musicians also have to include confirmation of their connection to the area and confirmation that they are available on July 6 and July 19 and 20.

People must also confirm they are available to perform live with at least one live vocal and one live instrument.

All successfully received entries will be listed on the Nusic website.

The entries for the contest close at 11pm on Monday (May 26), and finalists will be revealed on Monday (June 2).
